Awakening in Silence
The unique setting and purpose-built grounds will ensure that participants can sink deep into the silence of the mountains, enjoying the peace and tranquility that this valley offers.
A priceless opportunity to experience a focused meditation retreat under the guidance of Dharma Teacher Jokai Blackwell.
The foundation of the weekend will be our shared practice of presence, with sitting and walking meditation, eating, resting, falling asleep and waking up, all within a container of silence. Yokoji Zen Mountain Center provides an ideal environment for this practice.
The retreat includes ongoing instruction in meditation techniques as well as daily dharma talks that focus on applying meditation in daily life. You are welcome to join us regardless of your level of experience in meditation practices. We end silence Sunday morning with a talking circle followed by breakfast.
Awakening in Silence
Since time immemorial, meditation practitioners and spiritual seekers have sought the sanctuary of mountains and forests. Taking refuge in the natural environment, away from the busyness and complications of modern life, is a rare and valuable opportunity to experience the intrinsic freedom and peace of mind that naturally unfolds in stillness. The time-honored practices of meditation and present awareness can find expression in all our activities, supported by the natural container of mountains and sky. Taking refuge in our practice, we can realize the peace that is often obscured but never missing in our life.
