The historical Buddha Siddhartha Gautama was a realist. Though born into a life of wealth and status his spiritual journey began with the recognition that all people are subject to old age, sickness and death. Just like the Buddha, each one of us experiences our own unique share of the collective human condition. In our modern era the ever increasing demands of our fast-paced society can make finding an active balance between work, family commitments and self-care a daunting task. The path of the human being is not always an easy one.
The forms of our world are all subject to impermanence, including our bodies and sense of self. How do we confront this difficult truth and yet still find peace and freedom amidst all the change? Our practice of meditation serves as the foundation from which we can realize and directly experience the true nature of self which is unchanging. Letting go our conditioned patterns, fixed beliefs and cherished opinions allows the light of our innate awareness to flourish and respond in accord to shifting circumstances. This awakening has been described as cooperation with reality.
In this workshop we will be alternating periods of sitting meditation with ample time for reflections and group discussion. We will explore how the meditation that we practice in sitting can also be seamlessly expressed in the many activities and challenges of our life. In allowing present awareness to function in all that we do, we can shift from the dream of separate, identified self to living more fully as an awake human being.
The goal of the “Awake in the World” program is to learn to wholeheartedly experience the challenge and beauty of everyday life through the art of meditation.
This workshop is suitable for meditators of all levels
Refunds are available up to 24 hours before the course.
