Meditation for Beginners II
Insight & Balance/Vipassana with Robert Lurye and Franz Manfredi
Vipassana (clear insight) is a meditation technique that transforms our relationship to mind and body through mindfulness - clear, non-judgmental moment-to-moment self-observation. We will focus on practices that:
- Bring balance and kindness to thoughts and emotions
- Develop clear, stable, nonjudgmental awareness
- Reduce stress
- Tune into the body in a helpful way
- Dissolve barriers to wisdom and compassion
- Allow us to act from our deepest intentions rather than from fears, desires and superficial values.
Prerequisites: None – however Mindfulness for Beginners I: (Calmness, Clarity & Focus) develops mindful attention and calmness that provides an excellent foundation for this class.
LONG BEACH MEDIATION OFFERS TWO BASIC MINDFULNESS CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS.
Meditation is based on the development of two primary mental faculties: Concentration and Mindfulness. In our Beginners I class, we focus on developing concentration for calmness, clarity and kind, mindful attention. In our Beginners II class, we focus on clear observation of mind and body for the development of insight, wisdom and balance in our lives. There are no prerequisites for either Beginners classes, however Mindfulness for Beginners I: (Calmness, Clarity and Focus) develops mindful attention and calmness that provides an excellent foundation for our Beginners II classes.
This six-week course meets 3:00pm-5:00pm
3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22 & 4/29
The course fee is $125.
Refunds are available up to a week before the course. After that time a $5 service fee will be incurred plus the cost of any classes attended.

Note: We have a large parking lot with some street parking nearby. There is a bus stop directly in front, #61.
Important Note: There is no wheelchair access to the main meditation hall upstairs. An alternate sitting space may be made available upon request.
Class Preparation: We have cushions, zafus, benches and comfortable chairs on hand, but you are welcome to bring your own sitting gear.
As a non-profit organization we offer a limited number of full and partial scholarships to those who can demonstrate a financial need as well as a sincere interest in learning meditation.
If you are in need please consider how much of the full fee you can cover, remembering that we prefer to collect the full course fee if at all possible.
