Led By Guiding Teacher Jokai Blackwell Sensei
Our regular meditation practice functions as a foundation for the expression of present awareness throughout our everyday life. We can encounter varying mind states as we explore meditation practice. When we are feeling concentrated, peaceful, and still, we may associate that with our meditation going well. However, as we all well know, sometimes we encounter difficult emotions and powerful feelings as we sit. How then do we approach meditation when the content of our emotional experience is difficult?
In encountering difficult emotions, we are presented with the opportunity to have our meditation practice become a true vehicle of transformation. Sitting in stillness and becoming intimate with our true, vast nature, whatever needs to be seen is seen and whatever needs to be felt is felt. The resolute seat of meditation is the refuge from which we grow our roots ever deeper into our life just as it is, finding the freedom that transcends both easy and difficult.
In this workshop we will be alternating periods of seated meditation with ample time for reflection and group discussion. In delving deeper into our meditation practice, we support one another as we look at our challenges with the clear eye of realization. Please join us in taking a good look at how we practice meditation when meditation practice is difficult. Experiencing directly that which is uncomfortable is the beginning of transformation. Let us embrace this transformative potential together, honoring our present experience through ever deepening awareness.
The goal of the “Awake in the World” program is to learn to wholeheartedly experience the challenge and beauty of everyday life through the art of meditation.
This workshop is suitable for meditators of all levels.
Refunds are available up to 24 hours before the course.
